DO NOT MISS THIS VERY SPECIAL LIVE EVENT…

The Greater New Jersey Estate Planning Council is very excited to have two very special guest speakers for our Special New Jersey March event. We are honored and privileged to have none other than Senator Paul Sarlo; and Board of Commissioners Chairperson Germaine Ortiz, live and in-person to speak to us about what is going on in Bergen County and in New Jersey – the political and economic landscape, financial, tax, and commerce and industry matters, and what does the forecast look like for business and the economy here in Bergen County and New Jersey!

This is a very unique opportunity to hear some very unique perspectives and insights from two very special people. Senator Paul A. Sarlo is the Deputy Majority Leader in the New Jersey Senate. He serves as Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, as well as a member of the Judiciary Committee, the Joint Budget Oversight Committee, and the Senate Legislative Oversight Committee. He has also served as the Mayor of Wood-Ridge for twenty-five years. Senator Sarlo’s contributions, accomplishments, and accolades are countless and known throughout the entire state, and his legislative experience and resume is unequaled.

However, what makes Senator Sarlo very unique is that professionally, he is a licensed professional engineer and planner, and is Chief Operating Officer of Joseph M. Sanzari, Inc., a major general contractor and developer specializing in heavy construction, site work, and utilities. As COO of Sanzari, he has overseen hundreds of millions of dollars in construction and development projects and commands a workforce of hundreds of people. Thus, Senator Sarlo is also a businessman – and he can speak not only as a Senator, legislator, and local and state civic leader, but also as a businessman, and leader of commerce and industry!

Commissioner Germaine M. Ortiz is the Chairwoman of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners (formerly known as the Board of Freeholders), which is Bergen County’s executive legislative body. In 2019, Commissioner Ortiz became the first Latina to lead the Board of Commissioners as Chairwoman. She serves as Chair of the Human Services Committee, the Public Works Committee, and is a Member of the Budget & Finance Committee, and the Labor and Personnel Committee. Commissioner Ortiz is a twenty-year veteran of Wall Street, and after being a Sr. Vice President of an institutional investment management firm, she made the decision to focus all of her time and efforts to civil service and the Bergen County community at large.

While Commissioner Ortiz has gone from Wall Street to the Board of Education, City Council, Commissioner for the Bergen County Utilities Authority, and now Chairwoman of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, as if that was not enough, she also serves the community in countless other ways, having served for twelve years as a member of the Board of Trustees for Bergen Community College. There is no civic leader who is more active, involved, and an advocate for the people of Bergen County than Commissioner Ortiz. She has her finger on the pulse of Bergen County, from politics and the legislature to civil service and education, to the economy, business, and commerce and industry.

This is going to not only be a great event – but a one-of-a-kind event! You will hear insights, perspectives, and expertise from two Bergen and New Jersey leaders – in a setting and forum that the normally doesn’t exist!
